Palm Coast Swale Parking

One rule you may not know about parking in Palm Coast swales

Specifically, the City of Palm Coast prohibits the parking of any vehicle within swales between the hours of 1am and 6am has been established. This directive underscores that the City of Palm Coast discourages any overnight parking of vehicles in swales.

To elaborate, swales are not intended as designated parking areas. While it is understandable to park in a swale temporarily for visits to neighbors, friends, or businesses, especially when other parking options such as driveways are unavailable due to congestion, size limitations, or vehicular issues like oil leaks, this type of transient parking doesn't typically cause harm and is considered permissible.

However, it is crucial to differentiate this from using swales as a regular nightly parking spot. This prolonged and repeated use of swales for parking purposes can lead to substantial and lasting damage over time while causing the swale to collapse or not function as designed leading to localized street flooding.

Just be mindful and kind to yourself or property owner and don't park between 1am - 6am. If you do this on a consistent basis, we can promise someone will report you and you'll get a nice little notice from the city with a warning. Here is the wording for all the swale rules you may not know.

Parking in the swales is prohibited between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. If your neighbor is regularly parking in the swales during times that are prohibited, you can submit a case.
